Telluride is 331 miles from Denver and about six hours of driving. That figure is the whole story of this page, so it is worth putting first: for most trips, most of the time, flying is the right answer and we will tell you so.
But the road transfer is a real trip that real people need, and when you need it you tend to need it badly. This page is about when it makes sense and how it works.
When the drive from Denver is the right call
When the mountain flight falls through. Telluride Regional sits at high altitude in a box canyon and weather diversions are a normal part of winter there. A cancelled regional connection at 4pm leaves you in Denver with a booked house in Telluride and no obvious way to close the gap. That is the trip we run.
When the group and the luggage make flying awkward. Six people with ski bags, boot bags and a week of luggage sometimes work out simpler in one vehicle from DEN than split across a regional connection with a baggage allowance.
When you want one vehicle door to door. No connection, no second check-in, no ground transport to arrange at the far end. You get in at the airport and get out at the house.
When it is not, and we will say so
If a flight into Montrose or Telluride Regional works and the fare is reasonable, take it. Montrose is about 65 miles from Telluride, roughly 75 to 90 minutes, and it is the larger and more weather-reliable of the two airports. Telluride Regional is closer still, around six miles and ten minutes from both Telluride and Mountain Village.
One thing worth knowing if you do fly in: there is no Uber and no on-demand car service at Telluride Regional. Ground transport there has to be arranged in advance, whichever way you arrive.
What we cover, plainly
We are a Denver operator and we drive the Denver end of every trip. For Telluride that means Denver International Airport or the Denver metro to Telluride, and Telluride back to Denver or DEN. That is the whole of it.
We do not run the local legs at the other end. No Montrose to Telluride. No Telluride Regional to Mountain Village. No Telluride to any other resort town. If you fly into MTJ or TEX you will need to arrange ground transport at that end, and the operators there do it well.
We would rather be clear about that boundary than take a booking we cannot serve properly six hours from home.
How a six-hour transfer is actually timed
Six hours is the driving figure in clear conditions. It is not the figure to plan a dinner reservation around in February.
We build in stops, because nobody enjoys six hours without one, and we build in weather margin between September and May. If you have a hard arrival time, tell us what it is and we will work backwards from it rather than forwards from the pickup.
Coming the other way, an outbound flight from DEN means leaving Telluride early enough to absorb a closure without turning your morning into a problem. We would rather leave an hour earlier than you would like than have that conversation on the road.
Vehicles and luggage
SUVs seat up to six passengers with luggage. On a Telluride run, luggage decides the vehicle more often than passenger count does, so tell us about ski bags, board bags and boot bags when you book rather than at the curb.

Booking
Give us as much notice as you can, and if this is a weather rebooking, call rather than email. A six-hour transfer arranged at short notice depends on a vehicle and a driver both being free for most of a day, and that is easier to solve at 4pm than at 8pm.
