Here is how pricing works at Mile High Chauffeur, including the numbers we publish and an honest explanation of the ones we quote against your actual trip.
The one rule that explains everything
Rates are quoted per vehicle, not per person.
Two passengers and six passengers in the same SUV pay the same figure. This is the single most important thing to understand before you compare us against anything else, because shared shuttles price per seat and rideshare prices per trip. Any comparison has to be converted to a per-vehicle number for your actual party size before it means anything.
It is also why the value improves with every person you add. A private vehicle that looks expensive for one traveller frequently beats the alternatives at four.
Hourly and as-directed rates
These we publish outright:
- $150 to $175 per hour within the Denver metro area.
- From $200 per hour for surrounding areas and Colorado mountain towns.
The rate includes both drive time and wait time. A chauffeur waiting outside a restaurant for ninety minutes is not an additional charge, which is the main structural difference from rideshare.
Hourly is the right product for a night out, an executive road show, a wedding shuttle, a wine or brewery tour, or any day where the itinerary is not fixed in advance. See hourly transportation.
Airport and point-to-point transfers
Transfers are quoted as a flat rate per vehicle against your actual route and date, confirmed in writing before you book. That number does not move afterwards.
We quote rather than publish a single figure because four things genuinely change the price:
- Distance. A downtown Denver run and a four-hour drive to Aspen are different products. Mountain routes tie up a vehicle and a chauffeur for most of a day, usually with an empty return leg.
- Season and date. Winter dates, holiday periods and festival weekends price above a midweek summer transfer. Christmas week and the Presidents Day period are the tightest windows of the year.
- Vehicle. A Sprinter or executive van prices above an SUV.
- Timing. Pre-dawn and overnight pickups can carry a premium, because a 4am departure means a chauffeur leaving home at midnight.
Send your date, flight number, party size and destination address and you get a firm figure back in writing before anything is charged.
What a quote includes
Included: the vehicle, the chauffeur, fuel, tolls and standard luggage. Colorado toll roads such as E-470 and the Northwest Parkway are electronic with no cash option, and they are inside our rate rather than billed to you afterwards the way a rental company does it.
Not included: gratuity is not part of the base price.
Quoted separately, before you book: added stops, extended waiting beyond the agreed window, and additional pickup addresses. These are agreed in advance rather than appearing on an invoice later.
What does not change your price
Worth stating plainly, because it is the whole point of a confirmed flat rate. Weather does not change it. Traffic does not change it. A delayed flight does not change it, because your pickup is tied to your flight number. A closure on I-70 that adds two hours to a mountain drive does not change it.
The situations where a number legitimately moves are ones you control: you add a stop, you add passengers or bags beyond what was quoted, or you change the date into a different pricing period.
How to compare quotes between operators
Ground transport quotes vary far more than the service does, and a lot of the difference is what the number includes rather than the price itself. Ask every operator you shortlist the same five questions, in writing:
- Is this per vehicle or per person?
- Are gratuity, fuel surcharges, tolls and airport fees inside this figure, or added later?
- How much wait time is included after my flight lands, and what happens if I am delayed?
- What vehicle is actually assigned, and is it being subcontracted?
- What is the cancellation window?
An operator who will not put those answers in writing has told you something useful.
Getting a quote
Four things get you a firm number quickly: your date, your flight number if it is an airport trip, your party size and bag count, and your exact destination address.
Bag count matters more than people expect on mountain routes, because ski and board bags decide the vehicle more often than headcount does.

No. Your pickup is tied to your flight number, so a delay moves the pickup rather than costing you more. Give us the airline and flight number at booking rather than a scheduled landing time.
Is a private car cheaper than a shared shuttle?
For one traveller, usually not. For three or more it very often is, because the shuttle charges per seat and we charge per vehicle. Shared mountain shuttle seats commonly run around $60 to $140 per person each way in winter, so a party of four is looking at roughly $240 to $560 for one leg, on a fixed departure with other stops before yours.
How far ahead should I book?
A day or two is usually enough for a standard metro airport transfer. For mountain routes in winter, holiday periods, weddings and group bookings, book as far ahead as you can. Vans in particular sell out across the whole Front Range in peak weeks.
